......fun
Swimming:
St Aulaye - Plage is good and the restaurant has simple food. Nice place to relax early evening
Aubeterre - Very nice also but much busier especially with tourists
Parcoul - Le Paradou (just past Parcoul on the main road (D674) Rave reviews from teenagers. There is a bar for grown ups a couple of shops and lots of things for the kids including water slides crazy golf petit train etc
Chalais - Municipal outdoor swimming pool
La Jemaye - Take the road to Ribérac from St Aulaye and follow signs to the Grand Étang de Jemaye. Set in woodlands this is a large reservoir with lots of activities, serious swimming and it is popular with families, great place for a picnic
St. Christophe de Double - Reservoir lake in a forest, great for swimming.
Coast - It is worth the trip if you can face a two to three hour journey. The famous beaches south of Bordeaux, like the hot spot of Arcachon with its dunes, Atlantic beaches, surfing and night life are very popular. If you want to go, leave as early as possible around 6:00 and come back late. You can visit the largest dune in Europe - La Grande Dune de Pyla. Royan is about the same distance and also busy.
Horse Riding:
La Jemaye - En route towards La Jemaye, follow signs
Canoe/Kayak:
Parcoul - You can arrange to canoe along the river Dronne between St Aulaye and Parcoul (or further if you like). It takes around 4 hours. It’s great fun but can be tiring especially for very little ones. There are weirs to cross and you have to carry the canoes. Or you can just take the boats out and paddle around for an hour. The centre is at the junction of D105 and D674 at Parcoul en route to Chalais, on the right by the mill.
Golf:
Sevranches - Just follow the little signs on the local roads from St Aulaye
